Tobi moved stiffly, reluctantly to the witch, biting her lip to avoid giving away what she could see and the witch, flushed with triumph, could not.
The first thing a pigkeeper learned, often on the first day, was "never turn your back on an angry pig." It was surprising an owner of so many swine hadn't learned that, but she did always delegate actual, hands-on pig care to the people she turned into swineherds.
"Yes" the witch cackled. "Maybe I'll keep you in your new girl form. I've been looking for a goosegirl. Bit of a change? Of course, you will have to be punished for your insolence. No reason for a goosegirl to be as pretty as you"
Her gloating was interrupted as she heard an angry sow charging towards her from the back. She turned around to cast another spell, and Tobi reached out with the same power she had used to freeze Sebastian. (Mika saw the apparition, a little stronger and clearer in outline this time.) Caught between the girl's mysterious power and the charging pig, the witch hesitated, unsure how to deflect what was coming from Tobi, and in that instant she was hit by four hundred pounds of sow. The witch flew into the air, landed with a thump, and lost consciousness. Audrey the pig lay one of her sharp front hooves across the witch's throat.
"No" said Tobi. "We're not going to kill her."
Audrey grunted.
