Homans are an alien race that are nearly identical to Humans. Homans come from a planet about halfway between the center and the edge of Andromeda. It is a blue green planet mostly covered in water in a solar system shared with seven other planets. Homans and Humans are almost identical in every way. The biggest differences between them:
1. Homans are a little bigger than humans. The average homan is 6 feet 4 inches (1.93 meters)
2. Homans are more technologically advanced than humans. This is largely because homan written history is approximatly ten thousand years longer than human written history.
3. Homans enjoy greater diversity than humans. Although most homans have the same skin colors as humans do, some homans are blue. Part of this is because the homans colonized many planets and evolved many different directions with each planet. Part of this is because homans learned to manipulate genetics and could artificially help themselves to become whatever color they wanted. However, even more important than the physical diversity among homans, the homans evolved a cultural system where all the different homan cultures could interact in trade and politics peacefully. Each homan subculture maintains it's own identity and the cultures are not forced to blend together into one giant melting pot where individual differences are erased. Instead, a system of protocols was developed so that even people from very different cultures can still work side by side in peace. For example, the crucy subculture counts the first day of the week as sacred and the saju subculture counts the last day of the week as sacred so the saju fill in for the crucy on the first day of the week and the crucy fill in for the saju on the last day of the week.
4. Homans have almost no crime and have eliminated war.
5. Although most homans can easily pass as humans and infiltrate Earth, if you have to, you can tell a human and a homan apart because the homan spleen is on their right side. There are also smaller differences in anatomy but the spleen is the easiest to detect.
Here is a list of some of the more significant homan subcultures:
furnek - Like to genetically modify themselves to give themselves cat-like features however, they remain humanoid. They are very affectionate and tend to travel in groups.
azam - Like to build their bodies to peak athletic perfection. Whether male or female, they are highly competitive.
gurdneek - Like to play with technology. It is extremely rare to see a gurdneek without a communication array, sensor array, and five other arrays somewhere on his or her person.
brog and sil - All brogs are male and all sils are female. However, the brogs are not interested in women and the sils are not interested in men so the only time brogs and sils get together is for procreation.
tenad - Found a way to stop the aging process. They don't live forever but they continue to look like ten year olds even when they are sixty. Not only do they look like ten year olds, they've held onto the ability to play and other child-like qualities for years. Staying child-like, they aren't much use in most work but they frequently work as assistants to the gurdneeks.
There are millions of other subcultures. One of the things though that all homans have in common regardless of subculture is that they all regard humans as inferior. Most homans see how violent humans are and assume that humans are primitive, lower life forms. Although homan history records a time when homans were just like humans, that was ten thousand years ago and so homans view humans in the same way humans view Neanderthals. Although many homans think that humans should be treated homanely, most homans see no problem with using humans as goinea pigs to be experimented on just like any other primate.
So it was that the O.S.S. Bogle used it's warp drive to travel to Earth. It was not the first ship to conduct experiments on humans but it was the largest having a crew of 800 homans. The captain was an Azam female name Xiana. The chief engineer was naturally a gurdneek named Donshel who had several tenad assistants. Half the crew were furnek who turned decks ten through twenty into a furnek nest. However, half the scientists were either brogs or sils. The chief science officer was a blue-skin named Mint. They planned to locate a few communities of about a thousand people in each community and experiment on the whole community.
