You stir. Your eyes look up and catch the glare of a bright sun blazing through the tall canopy of a forest. You blink a couple of times and sit up to take in you surroundings. You're surrounded on all sides by a tall, thick forest. The spot that you're in, though seems to have no trees whatsoever, and a surprisingly comfortable blanket of grass was cushioning you as you rested. You hear the sounds chirping of birds and the occasional noises of other animals around you, but other then that all is still. You're unsure how long you've been there. Several hours? A day? Only a few minutes? The answers, naturally, don't come.
You stand up, your legs feeling stiff, and as you do you realize that, while you have a bit more control over your urges you still are very much under the effects of the root vegetable you carelessly devoured. You adjust yourself and feel a slight twinge as you do so. You're quite sensitive down there. You force the thought out of your mind and look around you. There are no signs of the mansion you entered, nor the road you took to get there. Wherever you are, it's going to take quite a bit of doing before you get home, or even to anything resembling civilization. As you take a step forward in a random direction you're reminded, once again, of your predicament. That's going to be quite the distraction and, since you seem to be alone, the idea of "taking care of yourself" crosses your mind.
As you're pondering this, though, you spy a squirrel staring at you from the trunk of a tree. It's nothing of particular note at first, you've seen plenty of squirrels and you know that some make their homes in areas like this. You turn around to try and find some clue as to where you should go. As you concentrate, you do hear the faint sound of running water. Perhaps there's a creek or a river nearby that you can follow to civilization. As you turn around again, trying to get a fix on where the noise might be coming from you hear the sound of scuttling from behind you. The squirrel has crawled down the tree and is on the edge of the clearing staring at you. You shrug this off as well, it's probably never seen a human before. Shortly after the squirrel disappears into the forest. You look around and see that the trees are less dense in one direction, perhaps you should go off in that one.
Once again you hear rustling. You turn to see the squirrel looking at you again, then disappearing off into the forest, only to reappear a few moments later. This does strike you as odd. Is the squirrel trying to get you to follow it? IT seems a silly idea, but then again so does the series of events that lead you here. As if able to read your thoughts, or at least your facial expression, the squirrel climbs up the trunk of a tree, back down again, into the forest and back into the clearing. It does seem to want you to follow it, but should you? It's thus far your only real solid lead on learning about this place, but it could just as easily be some sort of trick.
