"Ok, works for me." Mal smiles at Terry and then turns back to the road. Terry turns the radio on low.

Arriving at the HS, they pull around to the corral and back the trailer up close to the gate.
Dave the horse carefully backs down the ramp and lets Terry walk him around the circular holding paddock a few times.
He thinks to himself 'well, I'm a horse, now.' Terry leads him to the fence and climbs out, then reaches back and unclasps the leadline while stroking his snout through the halter. 'yup.'
'fuck.' his ears twitch forward at his silent dismay.
Terry smiles at him for a moment and then walks away, completely oblivious.
'Seriously? What the fuck am I going to do? What is going to happen to me?' He stands there, getting used to the smells around him. He can smell a lot more now, hear more too. Dave decides to try running like he did when he was freaking out. It felt good, natural. He cantered about, tossing dirt and cutting through the middle of the ring to change directions every once in a while.
Dave hoped someone would feed his dog.

As she comes in the door, she sees Stacey at the desk. She is a forty-something divorcee who enjoys her simple job after years of experience with animals - and she includes her ex in that description. Past Stacey is a few more desks and a filing cabinet or two. The water cooler gurgles as Mal gets a refill on his water bottle.
Waving to Stace', Terry goes over to the spare desk and signs the form that Stacey and Mal have already filled out.
She notices the pen in her hand. It is that pen from the scene. She liked how it moved on the paper and wants to try it again.
Sitting down and pulling over a piece of scrap, Terry writes...
