As the weeks passed by, you and Bláth became more and more excited. The eggs were now quite close to hatching.
One afternoon, you were napping with Bláth when you hear a slight cracking sound. You immediately wake her up, and alert her to what's going on. "Oh my God, oh my God..." she says. She looks into the nest to see the first egg hatch.
The egg's shell began to push outwards, as the crack became bigger until a complete section of eggshell came off, revealing a beautiful baby dragoness. She was blue in colour, just like you. "Saoirse," says Bláth. "That's what we'll call her." She had sleak wings, just like her mother, and a rough skin, just like her father. "Absolutely beautiful..." you say, with a look of wonderment strewn across your face.
Before long, the second egg hatched! This one was much faster. With one big crack, a boy dragon burst out of his shell. You knew that this boy was going to grow up to be tough! He was a crimson red, and had a muscly body. "Séamus," Bláth says.
The third egg was also hatching. The crack slowly spread around the egg, until a small dragon head poked out. This dragon was purple, and looked delicate. You think that this one is probably going to be a mommy's boy! "Seán. That's his name."
You had to wait a bit longer for the last one. The crack pulsated, until finally giving in to the pressure as another male dragon comes out from within. He was both blue and red, having a kind of a stripey pattern on him. You feel a special connection to him. He suddenly sneezes, and you and Bláth giggle at that. "Aster Junior," you say. "I like it," says Bláth. "I think he's a lot like his dad." You turn to Bláth, and plant a kiss on her lips. The new generation of dragonkind was lain in front of you. You're not going to take this for granted!
