“I got some clothes..." He explained. "From the closest source.”
Terry suddenly became aware that she was standing in her underwear and crossed her arms over her chest. She didn’t want to be half naked, but wasn’t willing to take her old clothes back. They were Dave’s now.
Dave handed them back through the gate. “I appreciate it, but these are way to small for me...”
Terry accepted the gift and quickly redressed. “This is fucked up...”
“You’re telling me...” Dave replied. “Can you let me out of here?”
She finished dressing and apologized for not undoing the gate sooner, then found a towel nearby.
“I’m gonna try writing something else...” She said as she picked up the notepad and pen.
“You will get back the clothes you had on before you became a horse.”
“I wonder how that’ll work...” He said after she read it back to him. “Seems awfully specific...”
Moments later a police car pulled up next to the stables. Officer Rick stepped out and looked them both over.
“Uh... Hi Officer...” She stuttered.
He greeted them, then turned towards Dave. “You must be our missing man.”
“How did you know?” Dave asked as he fiddled with the towel around his waist.
“You look just like this guy.” Rick explained as he held up Dave’s license.
“Yea... That’s mine...” Dave hesitated.
“Great!” Rick replied. “I’ve got your cloths here...”
Rick turned back to the cruiser and pulled out a neatly folded set of cloths for Dave to slip into. He began to dress.
“I’m not sure why you decided to abandon them by the road, but I won’t judge...”
“Would you like a ride back to your car?”
“Uh... Sure...” He replied as he zipped his jeans.
“Wait a second...” Terry said. “What about...”
“The pen?” He asked. “It’s all yours. I don’t ever want to see that damn thing again.”
He said goodbye and sat in the passenger seat of the cruiser. Rick thanked her for finding him and joined Dave in the car, then drove off. Terry still wasn't sure what to make of the situation. All she knew for certain was that the pen had power...
