Terry checked her logic quickly, before switching to the magic gold pen and re-writing the wish.
Of course, nothing happened. Nothing was supposed to. Terry didn't hear Stacey screaming or her clothes tearing, so that was good. Hearing her keys jangle, though, meant it was time to go.
"Bye, dear!" Stacey called, putting on her light jacket.
Terry smiled and stood up, half-consciously hiding her hand behind her hip. It was still a raccoon paw... this was crazy. She thought about how busted she surely was as she walked around her desk to give Stacey a hug goodnight.
"Let's see that hand." Stacey fawned. "You cut bad?"
Terry was hoping she wasn't red or sweating as she lifted the paw and her coworker inspected it in front of her face. "Nothing. She smallest cuts always hurt the worst."
The second change should be happen- yep. As they went in for a friendly hug, Terry felt Stacey get taller and thicker. Still highly stressed, Terry let her claws drag and catch on Stacey's jacket. They pulled back and a man she had never seen before scolded her jokingly - "You cut them nails, now, you hear? What, you think you're an animal? Wow!" He laughed heartily, and Terry felt the apprehension fade away. Stacey had become a man - he had the same hair type and color and similar features like wrinkles and eyes. "Just messing!" the man said, and tussled her hair with a big hand. Turning to grab his very manly and rugged backpack, he put it on the shoulder of the clothes the pen had obviously altered just like Terry wrote and turned to go. "Off to the bar. Hunting again."
Terry didn't know why, but she blurted out the name of the gay bar in town. "Bangers?" She just had this idea that Stacey would still go for men... like her/his ex?
"Woah!" Stacey spun on a foot and smirked. "Ain't swung that way since the beast. Nope, I'm off to the Corner Tavern." He waved and turned to go. The moment he hit the door handle, though, things got interesting. His jeans got loose and he started loosing height, then his hair got longer and her jeans got a little tighter in different places as her body changed back. She stood there, half out of the building...
"You all right?" Terry asked, wanting to trust the pen, but just not able to, yet.
"Yeah... uh..." Stacey put a hand to her head and daintily remarked, "just got dizzy for a second." Terry sees her take a big breath and shake. "All right, now! Seeya, chica!"
Terry stood there as the door clanged shut, raccoon paw hand hanging by her side.
