For the better part of the day, Tabitha pondered what to do. She called out of work, not wanting to deal with the everyday tedium while she had this on her mind. Brendan was away at school, finishing up his senior year, giving her plenty of time to herself, both to plot and to clean up the mess in the lab.
After taking a heavy-duty garbage bag and filling it to the top, Tabitha began the unpleasant task of scrubbing the blood off of the counters, walls and floor. As she put the last of the beakers of the fluid into the refrigerator, she first thought to smash them, and to empty the refrigerator of its contents as well. This substance had caused enough chaos and bloodshed in her life, and she'd only tried it once.
But then she thought of Rick's legacy, and his greatest passion: lycanthropy. This formula had been the better part of his life's work. His theory was that lycanthropy would end disease and the ravages of old age. The more she thought about it, Tabitha realized that she felt more lively and healthy than she had in several years. Checking herself in the mirror, she lifted up her t-shirt, revealing the beginnings of a six-pack abdomen, something she'd never had, even in her younger days of being a majorette in high school. There really was only one explanation: the formula.
Yes, that was it! She would continue his work, remaking the world in the form of the werewolf! It would take a lot of time, perhaps even years, but she could do it, no she WOULD do it! This would be her way of repaying the irreversible debt she owed to him, both for taking his life as well as him gifting her with this wondrous new form.
Brendan would be the obvious next candidate, though he wasn't Rick's blood son, it would be his duty as man of the house to take over the alpha male role. But Tabitha couldn't bear to inject her son, as she knew it would lead to them mating, and she simply couldn't stomach the thought of mating with him. But his girlfriend, Christina could, she realized.
She pondered a bit longer, trying to think of a way to give Christina the formula, though in a lower dosage that would prevent the full wolf form from manifesting. She didn't want to have to clean up her son's body as well. She consulted Rick's notes, wanting to make more of the formula, as she couldn't have too much, not with her global plans in mind. That's when the idea came to her, the sublime realization: simply mix it with a drink.
If inhaling the gaseous form of the mixture triggered a small version of the change with a short duration, and injecting it created an extreme version of the change, both in form and intensity, then diluting the solution with a beverage and then drinking it should be able to provide a happy medium. Tabitha made a mental note to invite Christina to dinner that night.
