Sixteen-year-old Cody had opened the small box and found wrapped in plastic, a remote control, complete with batteries and instructions!
“That’s strange! This doesn’t look like a remote that goes with the TV set or with the cable box” Cody wondered as he examined the buttons on the face of the remote. “I wonder what it’s for.”
When he studied the buttons even further, he realized that the remote didn’t belong to any device at all. With buttons like “Set Age”, “Set Orientation”, “Set Gender”, “Set Muscle Percentage”, “Set Height”, it became clear that with this remote he was able to manipulate people physically!
So, like all sixteen year-olds, Cody was eager to test this thing out right away. But, who would he try it out on? He was an only child, no siblings, his dad had already gone to work and his mom was trying to get ready to go out and run an errand.
“Cody!” his mother, Jane, said to him. “Take you laundry and put it in the washer, honey!” she said as she was busy putting her shoes on. “Then, please do the dishes and dry them for me, okay?”
Jane was walking around the living room, gathering some papers, collecting her bag and other things, before she was about to head out.
Cody had placed the batteries in the strange remote and pressed the “power” button, which caused a little red light to go on. Then, he tapped on the “Set Age” button, which had a digital indicator, which he set to “15”. Then, he tapped the “Set Gender” setting to “Male” before aiming the remote at his mother. Finally, he placed his thumb on the big red “Transform Now” button near the center of the remote.
“Hey mom!” Cody shouted.
Jane looked around at her son one more time.
“Cody! What is it, sweetheart? I gotta run! You’re holding me up!” Jane said, feeling annoyed that her son stopped her when she was in a big hurry to leave.
Cody pressed the “Transform Now” button on the remote and a faint, red beam of light emitted from the front end of the remote, striking Jane in the chest for a brief moment.
“Cody! You shouldn’t be playing with those things if you don’t know what you’re doing! Now I’m gonna be late for—“Jane grumbled before she was overcome by a sudden, weird sensation.
The weird remote suddenly changed everything for Jane. The tall, middle aged woman began to feel ill, like she had become sick in her stomach. Very slowly, she began to dwindle in size as her legs and arms shortened in size, making her dress, her shoes, and her underwear become too big on her.
“Ohh wowww!” Cody just sighed as he witnessed the weird changed as they happened before his very eyes. “This thing really works!”

“What… What is going on here?” Jane stuttered in what seemed to sound like a slightly deeper voice.

“Uhh… Sure, mom…” Cody said as he led Jace to his room. Jace could barely fit in any of Cody’s clothes because he was so chubby, but that was all there was for him to wear for the moment.
“I’ll have to wait for Henry to come home so he can take me to the mall…” Jace added. “I need to buy some new clothes!”
Cody just stared at his remote in his hand and grinned. He had transformed his forty-year-old mother into a fifteen year-old teenage boy and nobody even noticed or cared! So, what else or who else could he change with this remote?
