Almost the moment that he hit the button, he started to feel strangely. It took mere seconds for the black fur to start sprouting from his skin. Jeff stripped off his shirt and pants as his fingers started to shrink, delighted in how sleek his new body was becoming.
Or her new body, as he grimly noted. He'd set the gender to random on a lark, but it didn't help when he saw his penus dissapear. She sighed, realizing that it was too late to deal with it. It wasn't forever, anyway.
Her hips altered and she fell to all fours. By now, it was clear that she was becoming a Doberman. Her muzzle shot forward to a fine point and her ears stood tall on her head. She missed having a full tail, her body produced only a fine stub like it should, but it wasn't the end of the world.
She looked back at the computer as the final seconds ticked off on the screen. It reached the end and a dialog box popped up, "Adjusting Reality, Please Wait".
Jeff was dizzy a moment, and when it cleared her room was very different. All her furnature was gone, her clothes, everything. With a slight start, she realized that the computer and Chronovac were gone as well, either in a different room in this reality or never bought. She wasn't sure what that meant for her, would she turn back without it?
She let that worry pass. There wasn't much she could do about it. She'd look for the machine in the other rooms, but even if it was gone it wouldn't be the end of the world. It would just mean staying this dog forever. As it was, she didn't know how long she'd stay a dog. She'd selected random time, so she might turn back in a moment, in a year....
She realized that random might also set it so far out that she'd never live to turn back. She might be like this forever, anyway!
Strangly, she didn't have a huge problem with that. She was now a dog, and that felt okay. Jeff knew that it was a part of the conditioning, but part of her was comfortable even knowing that.
She got up and started walking though the house, stopping only a moment when she heard a tinkling as she walked. It took only a moment to discover that a black leather collar had appeared around her neck with appropriate dog tags. The thought of the tags brought forward a memory, one of the dogs memories.
Her name was Diana now, named after the Greek goddess of the hunt.
She sighed a little, then walked out of the room to explore this new existance.
