One by one they all rolled and raised their cups, revealing the dice. The Game Master had a two, two threes and a five, 13. The butler had a one, two fours and a three,12. Noel managed to role a six, a five, a four, and a two, 17. It finally got to Leon, as much as he was nervous about being changed and being unaware of it for a month, he was terrified that he would have the transformation controlled by his brother the prankster... who would probably be willing to put the ring on a hamster just to see what would happen.
Leon rolled the four dice in his cup and quickly turned it upside down on the table. He shook the cup around to ensure that none of the dice were sitting on the others. He closed his eyes and lifted the cup.
The Game Master said, "Well, that answers that." The weird man in the butler's costume with a dogs tail, simply grunted, and Noel said, "Darn it, there were so many things I wanted to try, like what if I put it on a slug?!"
The Game Master explained that the authorization bracelets prevent animal transformations based on the approval provided by our parents, attempting an animal... or bug transformation would violate the terms of the agreement and remove all the magic.
Leon saw the butler sneer at Noel and walk away with a very canine tail coming out of his backside...
Leon suspected that he had won based on everyone's reactions, so he mustered up the courage and looked down. He had four sixes, the best possible roll.
The Game Master cleared his throat, "Clearly child, fate has a plan for you... I have a significant number of wards preventing magical, intra, or extra planar interference in the games I use to determine things like this. There is a 0.007% chance of this happening, so either you are lucky, or part of a grand design.
The old man slid the box with the white ring over to Leon. "Just as soon as they put the ring on, they will forget it isn't theirs and you will forget it existed. You and your brother will only remember coming here for a change and something having started. Now go, and choose the one you mimic wisely. Oh, and Leon, your ring wants to be a balance and is forced to be midnight currently, the white ring will call out until someone puts it on... better you choose someone than it."
Noel and Leon leave the store heading home.
