Michael walks down the road as he thinks about what his friend said back in the club he'd just left. Jack his mate in the club had commented on the neon blue strobe light in the club saying that they looked like the blue light people saw 20 years ago. While he ranted on about how peoples lives had been altered drastically, Michael couldn't help but think of how his parents had met due to the effects of the 'blue light' his friend was talking about...
(His mother had been effected by this wave, Aki use to be a 60 year old Asian woman, but when the wave hit her ethnicity was switched with a British man and her age was switched with a 30 year old. His farther Edward, on the other hand use to be a 5' tall 35 year old man who was nearing obese, but his height was switched with a 6'5" tall bodybuilder who lived across the street to him and his weight was switched with a fitness fanatic.)
...as Jack went on for what felt like hours, Michael had finally had enough and said to Jack, "I'm gonna go now mate, I've got a lecture tomorrow"
"Okay Mike, watch yourself out there on your own", Jack says briefly as he continues on his blue light story. Michael just stared at Jack for a moment, he knew that he didn't like being called Mike, but he couldn't think of any comeback so he just turned around and headed out of the door.
As he walks down the dark shadowy street he can not help but feel like he's being followed. The since of being followed continues throughout his journey home. The entrance of his house was down a small alleyway that was only lit through the dim light above the doorway of his apartment, similar to that of an exit sign.
On the inside of the apartment, the walls were painted a basic cream colour but was covered by posters and magazine cut outs. The floor was covered in a cheap looking vinyl wood effect flooring that would mark with the lightest of scratches. The furniture was no better, but for a student flat what would you expect. Food wrappers covered the floor and items of clothing draped on the furniture.
Michael made his way through the mess to the bathroom, closing the door he made sure to lock it because every time he doesn’t someone ends up walking in on him. A knocking on the door begins as he starts the shower, “occupied” you shout over the rushing water, the knocking persists like a woodpecker on a tree. He opens the door to see a blue light glowing in the centre of the doorway. He rubs his eyes to see if its something in them, but when they refocus its still there.
Once he realised what he was seeing a high pitched sound comes from the blue light, as the sound goes on it soon lowers in tone to an understandable pitch, "hello, I am Cynatta the switch fae. You may know me better as the trait swap wave that appeared 20 years ago, until now I had been dormant in this building because I had used too much power. But now that I'm awake with my power regenerated I can learn from my mistake and use it more sparingly", she says continuing before Michael can say anything, "why am I talking to you? You may ask, well you are the first person to walk into this building, so I have decided that you will be affected by my ability and you alone, because as I said before I had used up too much of my power on too may people at once, so logic dictates that for me to say awake I should only use it on one person. That said the next person to walk through that door will have a random trait switched with yours." Cynatta finishes and with a flash of light she disappears, leaving a dumb found Michael still looking at the doorway of his bathroom.
