With the two most-likely-xenophobic “hunters” having their weapons trained on them, and effective cover too far away for them to reach before they would take more than a few hits each, certainly enough to be fatal to them, there was little that either Danielle or Sally could do, and they knew it.
Fortunately for them, one thing that those two apparently hadn’t factored into their hare-brained scheme was that there were others in the immediate vicinity, the sound of gunfire alerting them to the ineptitude of their efforts.
The one who’d sent that shot off, Robert Coleman, the Store Department Supervisor for Sally‘s particular section. One hand holding the 15-Round Glock Handgun firmly with the other supporting the hand now that he aimed it at the “hunters” in question. One thing that caught Danielle’s attention was just how steady a hold he kept on his own weapon, as the other two‘s hands were beginning to shake.
“I suggest that the two of you leave now!” His voice deep and booming.
Now that their attention had been forced onto the clearly armed (and eminently willing to use his weapon) Robert, a few others now moved slowly, some to right next to Sally and Danielle, others (security) spread slightly and trained their own guns on the pair.
The two now-targeted men took a moment to assess the odds, quickly determining that if they tried to grab Sally and Danielle now, it would be a messy end for the both of them. Slowly they backed away to their Jeep, but not before Earl had one thing to say.
“See you again when you’ve got no protection!”
“That was close.” Sally sighed, leaning on a nearby crate for support once it was clear they were gone. “How’d they think they’d be able to pull it off though?”
“They must be new to it, or just plain amateurs.” Danielle concluded, her wider field of travel having offered her a greater range of views and interests held.
More confirmation for her belief in the form of their declaration of using silver-tipped bullets. Contrary to the myths surrounding werewolves, Silver by itself couldn’t actually kill them. It would hurt, yes, but not be able to kill them, unless of course it pieced a major artery and/or vein to cause Death by Blood-Loss, or through the Spinal Cord, or something else to that effect. The obvious insight to this being that regular (and more reliable) bullets would be just as effective provided they entered and penetrated a critical point.
“In any case though, this’ll mean having to call in the cops. Entering a restricted area without a permit, attempted kidnapping.” Robert addressed them. “So I’ll need the both of you to wait inside while they’re called in for statements, and to get the video of them secured on the CCTV.”
