Carly felt amazing as a gingerbread girl. She smelt so good, she looked so good... She felt like she ought to lie still, but was surprised to realise she could still move her body.
Dr Laura noticed Carly was flexing her arms as she slid off the baking tray and onto some wax paper. "Carly, you really should keep still. Treats are much more appetising when they aren't wriggling around!" Dr Laura said. "But you look and smell delicious."
Carly was placed on display in the bakery window. Several people passed and looked in, marveling at how good Carly looked. After a little while, Dr Laura came back over and snapped off one of Carly's fingers, popping it into her mouth. "Mm... you really do melt on the tongue!" She said. It was odd - Carly could feel her finger being licked, chewed, sliding down Dr Laura's throat. But she wasn't sure if she liked it. "When will my finger regenerate?" Carly asked.
Dr Laura looked sheepish. "Well, to be honest, Carly, I thought you were so perfect as a gingerbread girl, I've made your transformation permanent. So you won't ever be regenerating. I'd suggest lying back down and hoping you get purchased by the end of the day - otherwise we throw what's left to the stray dogs."
Carly was shocked. She was going to be a gingerbread girl forever! But one thing was for sure - she wasn't going to let her self be eaten.
Carly hopped up from her tray and ran out the door. "Can't catch me - I'm the gingerbread girl!"
