But the changes didn't stop there. Dan's ears were itching, shifting, and closing up altogether. Momentarily, Dan was deaf. Great - that's all I need, he thought.
However, the deafness quickly subsided. Dan felt an itching beneath his hair, and then felt two floppy cow ears, lightly furred, growing out from the sides of his head.
He could hear again, but he didn't want to do it through cow's ears.
What happened if he turned all the way into a cow before he could get Kat to stop this nightmare? What kind of life was in store for him?
The changes didn't let up. The fur was not just on his ears - Dan could feel that same itching beneath his clothes on other parts of his body. His arms, his legs, his thighs. His skin was turning leathery - it WAS leather, after all.
Dan could feel his mind changing, too. Words came harder to find, memories became slightly hazy, and most of all, the freshly cut grass outside smelled delicious. He had to remind himself that he needed to find Kat instead of just wandering out for lunch.
