Molly seemed to have something of a routine going. During the day, she would be off, doing whatever, and then at night she would have dinner with me, sleep with me, and be off the next morning.
I wasn't quite sure what she did during the day, so I eventually went to ask her.
"Molly?"
I had walked in on her in my living room. She was hunched over on the couch, staring at her hands.
"What's..." I paused to observe yet another change. Her hands had become paws, large, furry, and padded. Her ring finger and pinky had merged, leaving her with four fingers.
"Everyday, Drew. Everyday, I wake up, and a part of me isn't what it used to be. It's... Incredible."
She continued to observe her hands, taking in each and every detail.
I tried to regain her attention. "You're getting alot bigger."
"Oh," She said, casually swinging her arms. "You noticed?"
"Hard not to. You used to be five two, and now you're as tall as me."
"Perks of being a big cat." She remarked, and she flopped down on the couch.
"Look, Molly, I just wanted to ask, what is it you do all day?"
"Nothing. I just sorta check out the town, see what's going on..."
"Ah." No more was said.
After breakfast, she stood to leave, but stopped at the door. "Drew, I need to tell you something."
"Hm?"
She took a deep breath. "I lied about my parents. I told them about what happened to me two days ago."
I gulped. I had met her parents. They had adopted Molly when she was ten. They had sticks so far up their ass it stuck out their mouth.
"Well, how did they react?"
She inhaled deeply. "They said I coul..." She stopped. "That I..."
She broke down immediately. I held her in my arms, slightly impeded by her added weight.
"They disowned me!"
I had no words for Molly. I had expected something like this to happen. Now, all I could do was hold her.
