Thomas then did the single most intelligent thing he could do in the span of time he had before he was transformed. He took out his ID and showed it to the little baby fur troopers. "WAIT! HERE'S MY ID!"
The cheetah cub soldier took Thomas' wallet, and look at it puzzlingly upside down and sideways, before giving it back to Thomas.
"Okay. Move along." The wolf cub gesture waving his paw around.
Maybe Thomas should have turned around and driven right out of there, but he was scared of upsetting these strange little creatures who had just transformed Keith who was still whimpering to 'himself.'
Not wanting to get out of the car, he unbuckled and switched around with Keith, before his eyes, the seat Keith was in changed into a toddler's carseat. His clothes changing into baby blankets.
Thomas sped along past the "SEKURIDY CHEKPOINT," . . . his mind practically shutting down at the insanity he had just witnessed. He and Keith were business drones, human robots made to crunch papers, suck up to the boss, work to the bone, and basically gears conditioned to obey authority even when their own common sense screamed the opposite (this was natural selection in play, since those who questioned or contradicted the boss were quickly fired).
So Thomas drove forward, Keith whimpering besides him, confused and scared, and not sure what 'he' was even feeling at the moment. This was this strange emotion, bewildering and alien. Something 'he' hadn't experienced since getting his job at the cooperation. It reminded him . . . of a mother's kiss . . . of seeing a movie with friends . . . this was . . . was he feeling . . . happiness?
