Just as Sammy was meeting with the last few neighbors, he heard the loud squeal of someone slamming on their brakes.
No one, including Sammy, could contain their curiosity. They all scampered towards the commotion, trading theories and bets.
Rounding a street corner, Sammy could see something that looked almost comically out of place: an adult-sized car. A tricycle-riding bear cub in a police cap had pulled up alongside the vehicle, and was trying to calm the near-hysterical driver.
To Sammy's interest, the motorist was an adult human. It was so strange to see things as an outsider from humanity now; but luckily the change had left his identity and free will intact. He hoped it would stay that way.
"My name," said the driver in a voice like cracking glass, "is Thomas Cooper. My friend got turned into one of--you. I'm not gonna let you do the same to me."
