“Oh, I suppose it would be, horses.” Kelly replied after some thought. “Why’d you ask?”
“No reason, just curious, that’s all.” Erica replied, both unaware that already, the Amulet’s power was beginning to affect them. “So whey do you like them?”
“Not sure. Maybe it’s the power, the freedom they can have. Racing through fields, hauling unbelievable weights. That kinda thing.”
“I see.” Flashes of running free entered Erica’s mind briefly, and left before she could memorize them. “Any type you like?”
“Well.” Kelly began, beginning to nod off. “As much as I like the thoroughbreds, I think the draught breeds are the ones I like the most. Percheron, Clydesdale, those kinds.”
“Odd.” Erica murmured. “The Racing types, I, like.”
“To each…” Kelly never finished that as she fell asleep at that point.

It was early the following morning when Kelly was the first to wake up, to a feeling of stiffness, numbness in her toes. Passing it off as a result of her somewhat awkward sleep on the couch, she simply showered up before making breakfast, and odd liking for the oatmeal that she’d normally avoid compelling her to chew through most of it before Erica joined her.
“Someone’s hungry.” She noted, seeing how much Kelly had consumed already.
“Shorry.” Kelly apologised mid-chew. “Shtarving.”
“I can see that.” Erica chuckled, perhaps hypocritically as she was joining her in depleting the stock.
The stiffness Kelly felt in her feet hadn’t left, but for some reason, she chose to ignore it, preferring to focus on getting some good clothes on, opting today for an easy-fitting sleeveless summer dress (with slight floral pattern) in anticipation of the hot weather, and some open sandals to go with them, and wondering why they didn't feel like they fit quite so well for an instant. Once she was downstairs again with Erica, who was in a white short-sleeved blouse and cut-off jean shorts (halfway down the thigh) with sneakers, she thought there was something off with Erica’s face, almost as if her nose had enlarged, a thought that vanished before she had a chance to think about it.
“So over a week ‘til the parents come back, where do we go?” Erica asked cheerfully, the large SUV that Kelly could drive waiting for them outside.
