Melissa, realizing that it was now her turn, carefully picked up the dice and tossed them on the table. Double 3's.
"Doubles!" Melissa exclaimed, moving her piece six spaces. "I wonder if that does anything special." A card flew out of the deck and into the air.
It looks like three is your lucky number
So try this new change on for size
For you, if poor vision does encumber
Then you shall be blessed with three eyes
"Wait, what?" she said shocked, as her vision began to go blurry. Melissa took off her glasses and set them aside, and the other three watched as an indentation began to form in her forehead. Within a few seconds, the eyelid formed and Melissa blinked with all three eyes. Her third eye opened up, displaying a stunning gold iris, contrasting the normal blue of her original eyes. On the gameboard in front of her, her piece gained a small feature on her face to match the real Melissa.
"Damn, Mel. These changes are starting to get weird," Scott said, scratching the back of his head. He was starting to worry about what he would roll on his turn.
Melissa blinked a few more times, brushing the hair out of her new eye. "This is so weird. Not only did it fix my vision, but everything is so much more vibrant. The three of you are practically glowing." Then a look of realization came across her face. "Wait, this is just temporary right? I don't want to be a three-eyed freak for the rest of my life!"
"Yeah, and I don't want to be a dwarf for the rest of my life either," Cal piped up.
Scott tried to give a reassuring smile. "She said it was only going to be temporary. And hey, worst case scenario we can find that shop again and fix it that way."
Melissa breathed a sigh of relief. "I have to admit, for right now, this is actually a pretty cool change." She handed the dice over to Scott, who now looked a bit nervous.
"Alright, here goes," he said, throwing the dice in front of him. 4 and 2.
"I guess that isn't terrible," he said, moving his piece 6 spaces, next to Melissa's piece. A card was drawn for him.
An average roll, to start off the game
An average change, however far from plain
In this game, this change is quite tame
For you, dear player, a beautiful mane
The card turned to dust, and Scott's head became itchy. Before his eyes, hair started to pour from the top of his head like a waterfall, becoming fuller and healthier as it did so. It fell and travelled down his chest and back and had no sign of stopping. Scott started to worry a bit when hair began to pool in his lap and behind him, a curtain of hair covering him on all sides. It finally started to slow down, the weight of the hair starting to become extremely noticeable. With a little trouble, Scott was finally able to get to his feet.
Scott's hair was extremely long, stopping just short of his knees. It was astonishingly healthy and voluminous, hanging wildly and swinging a bit from the motion. Scott's figure copied this change, gaining quite a bit of size as it mimicked his wild mane.
Cal laughed. "Hah, you look like a girl, Scottie,"
Scott merely shrugged. "Hey, at least I can cut all this off if I want,"
Cal's smile faded. "You've got a point," he admitted.
Kat stood up and went behind Scott, running her hand through his new hair. "Why would you do that, babe? I think it looks good on you," she said with admiration.
Melissa smiled. "Yeah Scott. Any girl would kill to have hair like that."
Scott and Kat both sat back down, Kat still fiddling around with his hair. "Yeah, I mean I wasn't going to do it until after the game anyways. It's not like this change is a bad thing."
Scott finished off his beer and set the empty bottle to the side, while Melissa brought out another one for each of them. Round one had come to a close, but there was still quite a way until the end of the game.
