Matt's android body stuns the engineers

added 8 years ago I

Matt felt his box being loaded onto a truck. It's slid around turned over a couple times, luckily he wasn't very breakable.
He finally was unloaded from the truck, rolled into a faculty of some kind, and offloaded.
Several guys in lab coats were staring in at him after the crate top was removed.
"This is incredible!"
" I've never seen one so lifelike! Where do you say was found?"
"In an apartment – the renter disappeared and abandoned all his stuff. The landlord said this android looks exactly like the guy; but was not aware that the renter was any kind of engineer or scientist."
"Well- whoever built him, he was brilliant."
Matt had wound up in the robotics lab at the local university. Not the kind of place that was on the cutting edge of engineering, but respectable nonetheless. Matt must've been dormant for a long time. He bet that the landlord sold him to the university to recoup the lost rent.
"Look at the detailing! It is as if he was flesh turned into robot! I wonder if all of the mechanics are anatomically correct? Is his logic circuits actually in his head?"
"Let's find out" said the doctor, as he works a screwdriver and wrench just out of Matt's view. Pop! Hiss..... The doctor detaches Matt's neck protective cover and places it on the workbench.
In Matt's powered down state, he was somewhat aware of what was going on, but did not have enough power to process alarm or worry.
The lab assistant took the screwdriver and wrench and was able to pop off Matt's head. He brought it over to the bench as well.
"Look – there is a maxillary PowerPort and USB connection. Maybe it would be best to download whatever data is in the robot before we mess with it?"
"Yes – that would be wise." Sam, the lab tech, plugged Matt's head into his computer, and started to access Matt's memory database.
The USB connection added a little more power to Matt's neural net. He was more alert and realized that his head was no longer attached to his body. He tried to send a signal back to his body, but there wasn't enough power there to restart.
Sam remarked, "I've never seen programming this complex. Whoever wrote the software was a genius. This is exactly emulates a human brain's neural net."
"Go ahead and make a copy of it so we can study later," said the doctor.
A buzzing nauseating feeling started within Matt's head. It felt as if all his thoughts and memories were being ripped apart one by one. He could sense a complete copy of himself forming; and then leaving his body.
"When the copy is complete, let's crack open the logic circuits take a look."
Matt was now aware enough to be worried. What if they damaged him? Could he be repaired? Hopefully these engineers knew what they were doing.
Sam unscrewed all the bolts holding Matt skull on; he flipped it up and off revealing all of Matt's circuitry.
"I have never seen circuits that dense," said the doctor. "Be careful not to short-circuit any of them, it may damage the circuitry."
Sam pulled out a circuitboard from the frontal lobe. All of a sudden, Matt couldn't remember if he had a family. The doctor removed circuitry from the rear of his brain. Matt suddenly couldn't see out of his right eye camera.
"Sam – watch out for that screwdriver –." Sam bumped a screwdriver, and fell into Matt's open skull. It wedged itself between a capacitor and Matt's memory circuits containing memories of his human life. The capacitor let out its charge, and destroyed Matt's human memory area. The stress caused Matt's systems to shut down to try to protect the rest of his brain. Sam saw the capacitor spark, and quickly pulled away. "Uh Oh" said Sam. "Good thing we got the copy."
Matt was no longer conscious; so he was no longer overhearing the engineers talk.
"That's quite enough for you today, Sam," Said the doctor. "Why don't you start disassembly of the rest of the body in order to see how it works. Document everything you see, this might do well for our military drone program."
