"Hey, do you smell something?" Julie asks, sniffing the ground.
"Yeah, I think I do," Nina says, Jason just looks perplexed, he didn't smell anything as he walked with his daughters.
"What do you girls smell?" Jason asks, but he didn't have a chance to have them answer.
A large female wolf steps into view, looking at the two cubs and the squirrel curiously for a moment.
"You two pups keep strange company," she says with a growl, causing Jason to instinctively hide.
"He's our father," Julie says, which makes the wolf soften a bit. "Sorry, we didn't know what animal he picked, and, yeah..."
"Its okay, it happens," the wolf says. "I'm Harriet, I'm the Alpha Female of one of the packs here in the Forest."
Before they can reply, more wolves step out of the forest, scaring Jason again. But the wolves just look at the strange trio, sitting back on their haunches. Jason notices that peculiarly they where all female.
"You don't have an Alpha Male?" He asks.
"We've been having a hard time getting one to stay long enough," Harriet says. "Usually the males are more interested in..." she says, then remembers the children. "Certain things that aren't fit for cubs' ears."
"What do we do with them?" One of the other wolves asks.
"Bring them back to the den," Harriet says. "The girls clearly wanted the wolf experience, we might as well give them one. And the Squirrel too, make sure no one eats him."
After a few minutes, they reach a den that had been set aside for the pack. Several wolf cubs run up excitedly to the twins, clearly wanting to play as Jason and Harriet watched them wrestle around.
"Thank you, for letting me stay with my daughters," Jason says.
"Hey, its more than my husband did," Harriet said with a shake of her head. "He got me pregnant and left me here after promising he wouldn't. I don't mind being a wolf, but I'd have liked to have him here."
"So, you're stuck here?" Jason asks sympathetically.
"Yeah," Harriet says. "So is the rest of the pack too, we all chose to stay with our children."
"Sorry I can't do more..." Jason says. "Maybe if I could change forms..."
"Well, they do allow that," Harriet points out. "I could even watch the girls while you went to do it."
"I'll, consider that," Jason says, he had to admit being a wolf was starting to appeal to him. He just shrugged and watched his daughters play with the other cubs.
