Carefully, making sure not to disturb her too much, you next slide the silver ring off of Brooke's finger and place it and its golden companion back into the jewelry box. This is when you notice the other pieces of jewelry still in there. Curious, you decide to take a closer look. You pull the necklace from the box, as well as the instruction sheet.
The necklace itself is comprised of a thin silver chain with a clasp and a pendant set with an opalescent turquoise stone. You look over the instructions once more as you put it on. "Inanimation Necklace," you repeat softly. "So if I wanted to, I could really turn someone into a statue...?"
Suddenly, you feel something cold and rigid around your leg. To your great shock, you look over and realize your question has been abruptly answered for you. Brooke has been turned to stone-- granite, from the looks of it. She is still posed as if she were sleeping, with her legs wrapped around one of yours. You're stuck.
"Oh, shit!" you exclaim. "Brooke! What... How did this...?" And then you realize your error: you said the word "statue" while you were still touching her. The necklace must have interpreted your question as a command. "Oops... uh, sorry, Brooke... I didn't intend for that to happen..."
You quickly take off the necklace, seeing it as the only way to free yourself. Instantly Brooke reverts back to warm, soft, living flesh and bone, still asleep and completely oblivious to having been transformed. Still clutching the necklace in one hand, you gently pull your leg away and get out of bed.
"Hmm," you say, holding up the necklace again with a smile. "This could be VERY interesting to play around with." You put it on once more and look back at your sleeping girlfriend. "Now... what should I do first?"
