Kathryn knew immediately which one to choose, the one Nate had inadvertently and unknowingly asked for. Later that night, alone in her basement, Kathryn began crafting her spell. "Under the pale moon light, he will shift from man to beast. Growing claws and fangs. Fur will grow over his body and he will walk on four legs, just as he has always secretly wished. After this night, the boy will be able to become the beast whenever he desire."
With those words, the spell was cast. She looked out the basement window and saw the setting sun. It wouldn't be long now. She smiled to herself and went upstairs to wait and see if the spell had worked.
Nate was alone in the house on a quiet Saturday night. His Mom was out on a date and his younger brother was at a sleepover and he had the house all to himself. He settled in on the couch and was mindlessly flipping through channels trying to decide what to watch. He noticed the room was getting dark as the sun set. He reached over and flipped on the lamp on the table next to the couch. He began to feel an itch on his forearm and began mindlessly scratching it.
He started to feel restless and got up. He walked to the kitchen and leaned against the granite counter top, mindlessly flipping through a catalog on the counter. Suddenly, Nate began to feel very warm, even hot. He walked to his bedroom, deciding to try lying down for a bit. No sooner was he in his room than he started stripping, pulling off his t-shirt and shorts. He felt like he was burning up and being naked wasn't doing anything to help. He thought about taking a cold shower and turned to head towards the bathroom but stopped when he felt an intense pain building in his head. He cried out, gripping his head with his hands. He slowly fell to his knees as the pain wracked his body. Nate pulled his hands away from his head as he felt a searing pain grow in them. He watched in shock as they began to grow and reform into paws as coarse hairs began to grow out. He immediately knew what was happening. Somehow, he was turning into a werewolf. He began to relish the transformation, egging it on to continue. He felt his teeth grow out into large sharp fangs as his face slowly pushed out into a lupine snout and his ear grew to points. His feet stretched and reformed as did his legs as he dropped onto all fours.
Nate began to walk around the house, getting used to walking on all fours, now a big lumbering beast. He remembered the mirror on his mother's closet door and walked into her room to check himself out. He was initially startled at the four legged beast staring back at him in the mirror. As it began to register that this is what he had transformed into, Nate began to feel intensely excited. He looked so fearsome with his dazzling amber eyes and large fangs as he snarled, revealing them. He let out a loud growl, impressed with what he had become.
"Ah, you turned out beautifully," said Kathryn, startling Nate. He turned and looked up at her. "Such a big, lovely beast. Come, my pet. I'll let you out."
Nate padded after Kathryn, following her down the hall into the dining room. She slid open the patio door and then stepped aside, letting Nate out into the cool night. She then stepped outside and closed the door behind her.
"Well, go on, have fun, hunt, scare the neighbors," said Kathryn. "Stretch those new legs of yours, let the beast out to play."
Nate took off, running into the darkness, surprised at how fast he was. He felt so powerful. He ran into the woods that ran along the back of the neighborhood. It was time to hunt.
