Ashley's eyes widened for a moment, and she shook herself, seeming distracted by something I couldn't see. Her nipples were, if anything, more prominent afterward.
"I, I need to get home. Quickly." She swallowed and closed her eyes taking a couple shallow breaths. "Do you have your license? Could you drive me there please?"
"Nah, I've got something better. I wish we were outside your home." I smiled at her confusion as Ashley looked around, her mouth dropping open. I looked around too.
The Millers lived in a gated community just barely within our school district. If you didn't live there, or know someone who did, there was no way to get in. From the outside there was nothing to see but a big wall and set of electronic gates. On the inside it mostly looked like a park: short grass stretched between the houses, bisected by winding brick walking paths. Ornamental shrubs and trees were everywhere, no streets or driveways in sight. I heard a shuffle and looked back in time to see Ashley stumble a few steps from me, her face pale and radiating fear. She whirled and ran full speed to the nearest house, throwing open the door and running inside. It occurred to me that teleporting someone around was probably not going to go over well with most people. I could hear some thumps and bangs from the house and began to worry if maybe the Millers owned a shotgun.
"I wish no one can perceive me unless I will them to." I muttered. I knew, unless her parents kept her home tomorrow, that I'd get to have some more fun with Ashley at school. But now I could go peep in her windows since she couldn't see me, or in other people's windows if I wanted. I did walk over to lean against a tree, just in case she decided to do something to the place we'd appeared. A few minutes later I was glad I had! Men came running from all over, piling out of houses and running from the further reaches of the community. As they reached the Miller home they stood with their backs against it and held hands with the men beside them. One of the older men arrived and began reading from a bible, but I'd never heard any of the passages he was quoting, and the men surrounding the house were murmuring the words right along with him. They began walking outwards holding hands until they'd formed a large ring around Ashley's house, all of them looking away from it.
The guy with the bible was calling on the lord to purge evil from their midst. It dawned on me he was standing nearly exactly where I'd been when I arrived here. He was casting handfuls of
something from a leather bag, making some sort of symbol on the grass. For the first time I wondered what other magic might be real if little old ladies gave out wishing rings.
