Paul was the epitome of pathetic.
At 15, puberty had done little for him, except coat his face in a thick layer of acne. His posture was bad, and he had absolutely zero muscle tone, he was still pretty darn short, and worst of all, he had barely grown any...down there. He couldn't stand being in the locker room, having all of the jocks mock him for his "baby dick". No body hair, the dorkiest haircut possible, white, pasty skin, poor vision requiring thick glasses...he'd just need a pocket protector and orthopedic shoes to complete the stereotypical image of the "pathetic nerd". The only difference was that he wasn't actually that intelligent. He typically got in the high B range, rather than all "A"s.
Which is why he spent so much time with role-playing games. If only in his imagination, he could be something far better than what he actually was. He could be a wizard capable of altering reality, or a bard able to charm any man or woman alive, or a massive, muscular warrior!
So, when he got a link to a brand new character generation site, saying he was excited was an understatement! He quickly clicked it, opening the site and establishing a profile. Soon, there was a generic, wire-frame humanoid spinning slowly. The first choice - do you want to be male or female?
