Miss Lilly River was an art teacher, and she wanted a vacation, she wanted to do her own projects for once, rather than trying to foster the creativity of a class full of near uncontrollable kids who barely listened to anything she had to say anyway. The majority of them wouldn't so much as LOOK at a piece of clay or a painting ever again after her class anyway. But it was months before the summer break, and the school board wasn't about to hand out vacations to teachers just so they pursue their real love in life.
And her car needing fixing and she had to take the bus today to boot.
"Even if I could get time off, who'd substitute for me?"
"I'm willing to substitute for you," another woman said. Lilly hadn't even next she was sitting right next to her on the bus bench until a moment ago.
She didn't notice as the woman's eyes glowed as she spoke, but she did calm down and felt like just listening. "Hello, you may call me Mona Stein. I am capable of substituting for you. Is that something that you'd want?" While she could less this human's natural inclination to question a random person offering to take her job without showing credentials, choosing to accept the offer still had to be completely Lilly's own choice.
"That would be nice, yes." Lilly said.
"Then we have a binding contract." Mona said, and offered her hand to shake that Lilly accepted. Lilly shuddered. She didn't scream in fear or alarm, but she did feel confusion and shock as her clothes dissolved, and her skin turned dark red with a rubbery shine to it. Her feet became hooves, her fingers grew claws, and a hair of horns grew from her head and a pointed tail from her tail bone. If she had been able to look in a mirror, she seen she also now had fangs and the whites of her eyes were now black. Finally she broke through the 'don't question it' geass to saying, "Wh-what's happens to me?!"
Mona kept a calm face. "I'm substituting for you, so you can substitute for me at my job too. Just making sure you're not mistaken for new residents needing processing, don't worry, we have a contract, so you'll be treated with all the respect you'd expect from an intern from my bosses. Nothing in life is free girl. Do yourself a favor and enjoy yourself." Lilly barely had time to gather her thought as a portal opened behind her, and took her in to Mona's home plane, none noticed.
Mono check her watch. "I better hurry if I want to make my first class, we do have a contract after all."
A short while later as Mona set foot on the school grounds, any teacher or student who looked at her, instantly knew she was substituting for Miss Rivers, and there was nothing to worry about.
She made it in time to greet her first class of the day.
"Hello class." She said, her eyes glowing.
"Hello Miss Stein." The class all said together, though some with sarcasm or sass.
"Until Miss River returns I'll be your art teacher, and so there will be some changes. First, there is only one project each of you really needs to worry about for the entire class to be able to pass, and you won't have to really worry about your other classes either." Her eyes glowed. "Everyone student in class is to be transformed by a classmate, themselves, or me, into an immortal art work."
Miss Stein's magic washed over their minds, taking what they'd assume was a joke or a threat and made them all accept it with zeal, every student cheered at the project given.
Her magic didn't make them mindless slaves, or really alter their personalities that greatly, but it did make being magically transformed by their teacher, themselves, and their classmates into statues, figures, and other forms of art as the most natural thing in the world. Even their own parents laying eyes upon them would barely even flinch.
With her touch she enchanted the clay, paint brushes, wood carving tools, and other such things to be able for the students to use to transform each other or themselves while in the classroom from finite mortals into eternal works of art. She would still grade them for creativity, expression, and the like, she did have an agreement with Lilly after all.
