"Ah, I know! How about the Charles Atlas trunks?" the salesman said. He grabbed Richard's arm and dragged him into the back, as he did he called over his shoulder, "Oh, honey, I haven't forgotten about you. After I get him dressed, I'll get you the invisible bikini!"
"Invisible bikini?" Sharon said to herself as the drape closed behind her husband and the store clerk. She pursed her lips, "He better not mean like the Emperor's New Clothes."
Richard emerges from the dressing room wearing the black baggy trunks he was given. He looks in the mirror, and says, "Not much of a costume."
"Ah, watch what happens when you pull the drawstring!" the man said reaching into the top of Richard's trunks and yanking on the drawstrings.
"Wh-WOW!" Richard's eyes widened as the string turned the trunks into short tight trunks, and Richard burst out in muscles like a 1950's beef cake model. "Sharon's got to see this!" He ran to drape and shouted, "Sharon, come here! You gotta see this!" Then he loosened the drawstring an resumed his former appearance.
"Black swim trunks? I think you can do better-"
"Watch!" he said grabbing the drawstrings and pulling.
"W-that's incredible, how do you do that? An inflatable suit?"
"No. It's magic," said the salesman, "Like this bikini."
He offered her a hanger.
"There's nothing on it. I'm not going as Lady Godiva."
"Feel!" he said shoving the hanger in her face.
"Hey, there's fabric there! But I cannot see anything?"
"Try it on in the dressing room. See for yourself - or rather don't see for yourself."
So she did. She gasped as looked in the mirror. You could look right through her where the bikini covered her body and see the door behind her. She turned around and tried to grab the door handle, but her hands passed right through it. She stumbled through the door, as if it were air.
"What the-?"
"Oh, I forgot to mention the side effect of the invisible bikini. It turns the wearer into a ghost."
"Well, I'm not going to be a ghost."
She disappeared through the door and attempted to undo the bikini but her hands passed right through it now.
She ran back through the door in a panic, shouting, "I can't take it off. Change me back! Change me back now!"
"Let me see, if I can help," Richard said striding forward, and reaching for the bikini. His hands passed through her. He tried tightening his drawstrings more, and became more muscled, but he still couldn't touch his wife.
His wife noticed first, and shouted, "Richard, all the color's gone out of you!"
"I feel perfectly fine, " he said glancing down at his muscled body, "Oh, I see, I'm monochrome now. Let me undo the drawstring." He remained black and white.
