Isaac decided to avoid those strange dripping flowers and take the path with thick brambles. Isaac was confident his armor would serve him well against sharp thorns as opposed to potentially corrupted plant drippings.
As Isaac made his way through the brambles, the thorny vines began to edge closer and closer to Isaac as he went further down the path. Isaac was unaware that the thorny vines were also corrupted, and were slowly closing in closer on the paladin. After a few minutes through the path, Isaac could see an opening and heard the sound of the river close by; only a few more yards to go. Suddenly, the opening was sealed by the thick thorny vines as more vines descended upon Isaac. Isaac pulled his sword to fend off the vines, his blade slicing off the burning away the vines with holy energy. As Isaac battled the vines as he moved, some vines lashed at Isaac, hitting both armor and skin. Isaac grimaced as he felt some thorns connect with his skin and realized he couldn't hold them off for long. Realizing that these vines weren't normal, Isaac decided to take more action. Isaac pulled out an unlit brazier and focused his energy into it, creating a radiant fire within the brazier. Isaac then threw the flame from the brazier toward his escape route, burning away and leaving a trail of embers for Isaac to escape by as the vines were recovering. Isaac leaped through the opening and saw the vines quickly close the opening back up behind him.
Isaac stood up and began to see if he had any serious injuries. Luckily Isaac's armor held strong with no scratches, however Isaac could feel some pain from the cuts the vines made - he would need to remove his armor and tend to those wounds by the river, hopefully they weren't poisonous. Once Isaac had settled by the riverside he purified water and refilled his canteen, set up a tend and bed, and inscribed a protective ward over his camp site - there would be no evil approaching him tonight. Isaac then removed his armor to treat his wounds. Using a minor first-aid spell, Isaac healed the small cuts and scratches the thorny vines made on his skin. Isaac observed the injuries to ensure there weren't any serious signs of the Corruption. After observing all his wounds and tending to them Isaac deduced the thorny vines were not Corrupted...odd considering the entire forest was likely corrupted.
As Isaac laid down to sleep he could heard the faint noises of The Corrupted outside his camp. He knew they were trying to break through his ward, but still slept peacefully knowing he was safe. However, unbeknownst to Isaac, those vines had more of a lasting impact than Isaac would expect.
