"Reporting from downtown, Izumi Sharako. Now back to you." Izumi finished.
"Okay, that take should work. I'll get it sent to the station so they can start editing it." Her cameraman, Billy, said, giving her a thumbs up.
Izumi nodded back. At 30 she wished she was doing more than just field reporting. She wanted to be the main anchor. With almost a decade worth of work at the station she had proven herself more than capable, so why not give her the promotion?
She wondered if it was because she was Asian. When the job came up six months ago they had gone with that airhead Heather instead. So what if her chest wasn't as big? She was just as pretty, and she could actually read the script! But the station had decides to go with the blonde anyway, though she was only three years out of college.
Izumi grumbled to herself. It wouldn't be so bad if there were some interesting stories for her to cover. Lately she was assigned mostly fluff pieces like parades and small events. She wanted some hard hitting stories, or something exciting to cover. If she had to be out in the field, why not give her something worthwhile?
Izumi kicked a few rocks, bored out of her mind waiting for Billy to send over their footage before they left for their next assignment, when she noticed something odd. There was a remote of some kind on the ground. It looked new and flashy. She had covered some new technology pieces, but hadn't seen anything like this.
"Okay, we're ready to go." Billy called.
Izumi quickly picked up the remote, wondering if she could figure out what it was. It was unusual, and may prove to be something interesting to cover.
