The next room didn't look like any of the others at all, it was more office shaped. Don and Hugo sat on one side of the table in the center, and they got Mark to sit on the other. They started rambling on about his new life, his new school, and what he was to do if he saw the mafia members in the area. It all seemed so boring to Mark though, and Mark started to daze off at the desk. He started to have this weird dream, of an adult version of him, being trapped in school. He could see these two men in suits, lecturing to him, as the adult version of him got younger and younger. His face lost the edginess of adulthood and became bright, like the way a youth's face looks. His body became slightly smaller and less defined, and Mark pained to watch his progress go, but he couldn't complain because the men lecturing him would not be happy. He was losing his independence, as he pictured his apartment becoming a bedroom in a house. In his dream, he got up from the bed of his house and walked downstairs, seeing his mother, father, and two younger siblings. They were an all American family. Tall, proud, military dad, clean cut and loved his family. Mom loved to bake and sew. Him, the high school jock and sweetheart. His sister, a cheerleader for the same school. And his brother, still in middle school but developing a passion for sport as well. It seemed right, why would he separate from his family and his school? He was only 18, there was no reason to worr-
"Matt! Are you paying attention?" he heard as he jolted awake.
He looked up and saw the two principals for the high school, Mr. Dahn and Mr. Hughes, looking at him.
"You heard us, right? You have to keep your attendance up this term, don't cut class because you're already missing so much for games. You're in the running for a big football scholarship." said Mr. Dahn.
"This is a very big thing, Matt, even if you don't realize it. This could send you to the big leagues, and we want to see our students succeed." said Mr. Hughes.
"Of course, I'll keep up with it. Thanks Mr. Dahn, thanks Mr. Hughes!" Matt said as he left their office, excited to get back to the boys and tell them the big news.
Mr. Dahn and Mr. Hughes turned to each other and smiled.
