Andrew Baker, had lived a long, fruitful life. Now, he sat in a nursing home waiting to die. Is this what I've become? he thought. Just a cripple waiting for the end? While still youthful, Andrew had lived for adventure, from climbing the Grand Canyon to swimming the English Channel, Andrew had done it all. He wanted more than ever to be young again. Just then, there was a knock at the door.
"Mr. Baker, are you in here?" a nurse sweetly asked.
"Of course I'm in here, where else would I be, China?" Andrew bitterly responded. He had in fact been to China more than once.
"I just wanted to let you know that a nice young man stopped by and left you this. He said that you would know what to do with it." Putting a small box on the coffee table near the chair where Andrew was sitting, she left closing the door behind her. Andrew opened the box to find a small, dark blue watch. What am I supposed to do with this, he wondered. Putting it on, he glanced at the clock so that he could set the time. The watch was almost a full day ahead. Stetting it backwards Andrew began to feel a tingling sensation. As he set the watch he began to feel stronger, like when he first retired. Setting the watch to the correct time, he noticed that his arms looked more muscular. Looking in the mirror he noticed that he had just gotten younger. Suddenly, there was a knock on the door.
"Mr. Baker, I just wanted to check in on how you have been doing this past week," The nurse said as she came in.
"Why?" Andrew asked irritated by such a question.
"Oh, you know. We just want to check how you are adapting to being here now that you retired. I'm sorry to bother you. I'll be on my way."
