The Day Ally's Life Got Better

added by dmjab14 7 years ago AP BM

Ally was at home when the fateful delivery happened. She just so happened to be sitting on the couch, not knowing what to do with her life now that she had graduated high school. She had never visited any colleges and none had written to her, and her resume wasn't too good when trying to find a lower entry job. Her parents were out on a vacation- without her. They had said they wanted for Ally to get life settled by herself, and by the time they came back, expected for her to be out or almost ready to leave the house. Ally had no idea how to start. Sure, she could do basic tasks like getting groceries and cooking simple meals. But paying bills? Going out to a social event? That was most certainly a nope for her. Sometimes, she wished that she could be better. And this exact moment, the door bell rang.

Ally practically jumped out of the couch. She had not been expecting anyone- much less anything.

'May as well open the door and see what it is,' she thought to herself.

Navigating through the mess caused by her not caring for cleaning, she finally managed to get to the door. Being the person she was, Ally checked the peep hole.

'I don't remember ordering anything... no one is here, and there is clearly something on the floor.'

Ally finally opened the door after some extended thinking. On the floor lay a box roughly the size of a small cereal box. Ally picked it up with caution, with the thought that probably most people would have when a mysterious box appears on their door step- "Is this a bomb?" After concluding the box was safe, and looking down both hallways to see if anyone was there who could've possibly dropped the box (there wasn't anyone- TransDem Labs made sure of this. In ways that will not be mentioned.) to ask them if the box was theirs, she went back inside. Once inside, Ally sat back down on her couch, placing the box on the coffee table in front of her. She did not want to open a box that was unlabeled- no name, no brand, no shipping label, nothing. But her curiosity was nagging her. She really wanted to open the box. At the same time, she was still wary. Something had dropped this box at her door, and she had no idea who or why. Finally, her curiosity got the best of her. She grabbed a knife from the kitchen and opened the box. Inside it were 3 things; a CD, some sort of remote, and a USB connection to a computer. There were no instructions. Ally checked everything. There was simply nothing. By now her suspicions had waned and she figured she may as well input the disk into a computer- what harm was there? The computer ran Glass 99 and the actual hardware was at the least over 10 years old. If it was a virus, whoops. Not that Ally cared. On input, the computer ran the installation prompt. Ally clicked through it, agreeing to have read the terms of service and what not, finally letting it install. Ally figured she could clean the house while she waited for the program to install because the 10 year old computer was a dinosaur when it came to installing, downloading, or copying files.
