John enjoyed his 13th birthday. He got a Skewb (variant of Rubik's cube) and a Transfigurable Sonic Screwdriver. He got the best cake he ever had and learnt how to create a Minecraft mod. He liked his parents and his brothers, one older, one younger. He enjoys his life. But he felt there was something missing. Something that would change his life. Something that he doesn't know he will get tomorrow.
He woke up to a nice morning, his mind getting confused at what age he is. He looked at his clock. 7:38 AM. He went into the kitchen and made his breakfast. Yesterday was his last day of school for the school year. Summer holidays at last. After breakfast he went on his iPad to surf the web.
At 10:46 AM, his mother came home with the groceries and a package. John confirmed that it was for him. He collected the package. On the outside, it had a message saying,
'Do not tell the others what you have gained'. He decided to open it.
Inside was a ring and a watch. The instructions said,
'This ring will grant wishes. Wear it and say, 'I wish that no-one could take this ring off' and no-one will be able to take the ring off unless wished otherwise. Any changes you make will change reality so that people think it's been like that before. For example, wishing for yourself to be the other gender will make everyone - except you - to forget you were ever your original gender. The watch can control time, slowing it down, speeding it up or even making it go backwards. If you went back in time to kill one of your parents, you will still exist, but no one will know you ever existed'
He decided to test it out. He said,
'I wish for boobs' At first it didn't work, then his shirt started to feel tight. He looked down and saw breasts, even though they were small A-cups. He wished them away, and they went away immediately. He then got a piece of paper and wished for the paper to list the things that the ring and watch combined CAN'T do.
After a bit, a pen flies to the paper, without any help, and writes,
'The power cannot do anything that would tear reality apart. Other than that, you can do whatever you want with it.' He was happy to know that he couldn't destroy reality, but could turn the human population into cat people if he wanted.
