Anne was pointing at an ad for a new enclosure nearby. Jen went over to check it out.
It read:
WINTER WONDERLAND!
In the spirit of December, we've added a brand new exhibit for all our arctic friends. All the enclosures are cooled to a suitable temperature just for them. We've got penguins, polar bears, arctic foxes, seals, puffins, moose, walruses and last but not least a few of Santa's reindeer! Don't worry, we'll be giving them back in time for Christmas, so you'll all still get your presents. Merry Christmas!
"This sounds sooooo cheesy and lame." Said Jen.
"Yeah, it's a cheesy ad aimed at stupid little kids, but the exhibit itself is probably really cool!" Said Susan. "What do you say girls?"
Everyone agreed happily, except Jen, who agreed grudgingly. They followed the map on the ad to the Winter Wonderland exhibit, which was next to the zebra enclosure. As the passed, the zebras pushed their muzzles up against the fence.
"They really like humans!" Said Bree, one of the cheerleaders. "I guess they're used to getting fed through the bars by guests."
Jen wasn't so sure it was for food. She was beginning to get nervous about the curse. She ran ahead, into the middle of her group of friends.
As they entered the big white and blue building, the temperature dropped. The girls shivered and put on their jackets. It wasn't arctic cold, but it was considerably colder than outside. It was also fairly dark. The educational info boards have of blue glows and the enclosures had lights in them too. But those were the only light sources.
"They probably want it to feel like we're in the arctic during winter, when its darkest." Said Susan.
Jen groaned inside. Susan was so into animals. She herself really didn't care for them. They walked through the building, stopping to watch the arctic creatures in their enclosures. Occasionally reading a bit of an info board. Jen wasn't really paying attention.
"Hey, look!" Said Helen, one of the cheerleaders.
The hairs on the back of Jen's neck pricked and a butterfly sensation began in her stomach. Whatever was in the enclosure behind her was something she didn't want to see.
"Come on Jen!" Said Susan.
Oh crap! Now Jen HAD to come! She took a deep breath and told herself it was nothing. Curses couldn't be real. They couldn't! She turned and joined the group as they stared at the...
