I returned to the living area to see Jeff lounging on the couch. His muscles were gone, replaced with flab. He was even a little more out of shape than he had started out originally, but I still took the cake when it came to weightiness. Mmmm... cake.
Jeff didn't look too happy, either. When I entered, he turned to me, ready to bite my head off. But when he actually saw what I had become, he burst out laughing instead. "Oh, wow, man. What the hell did you do? What are you making people fat for?"
I sighed rubbed by face in my hands, feeling my softer cheeks. "It was an accident. I was trying to fix your dumb mistakes from earlier today."
Jeff pulled out a liter bottle of soda and began chugging it, seemingly without realizing what he was doing. "And you made yourself fat on accident? What about Kent?"
I shrugged. "I, uh, made him fat. too."
Jeff began laughing again. "That's hilarious. Then what the hell did you do to me? What about my muscles? I suddenly got the urge to stop working out and sit on the couch. And then I gained all this weight. I've never been this out of shape!"
I grimaced and crossed my arms over my new, hefty stomach. "Some... things were said." I was still annoyed with him from earlier. I was kind of glad that this had happened to him as well, to be honest. "I thought you liked being a lazy slob, Jeff."
I had meant the last bit as an insult, but Jeff didn't seem all that insulted. He merely shrugged and leaned further back into the couch cushions, chugging his soda. "Yeah, it's not so bad."
Too late, I realized I'd done it again. I watched as various stains of mysterious origin appeared on Jeff's shirt, which was pushed up slightly as he gained another 20 pounds, his clothes not bothering to accommodate for his increased weight. His rough stubble grew out into a messy, unkempt beard, and his hair became a shaggy mess. Empty food containers littered the ground around him, as well as the coffee table. The couch became a filthy mess, the cushions becoming half flattened and stained. The padding on the end of the couch Jeff was sitting on caved in, conforming to the shape of his body.
He turned back to look at me as he turned the TV on and began flipping through the channels. "Don't you have nerd stuff to get to?"
I looked back at the door to my room, then back at him. "Um, did you want something from me?"
He shrugged lazily as he dug into a bag of chips. "Not right now. We can figure out all this curse stuff tomorrow. Or maybe next week. I'm fine with whatever."
I clenched my jaw closed to avoid saying anything else on accident and made my way back to my room. I slipped my headphones on and could hear Dan and Kent talking to each other as they waited.
"It's actually a decent show, man," Kent was saying. "I mean, I was hesitant at first, but it really surprises you."
"I dunno, man," said Dan. "All the commercials for it make it look really stupid. I mean, I have my standards set pretty high with Gravity Falls."
"That's just because Cartoon Network has no idea how to advertise their own shows. If you just give Steven Universe a chance, I guarantee you'll -"
I cleared my throat, interrupting their conversation. "Hey, guys. I'm back."
"So what was up with your roomie?" asked Kent.
"Yeah, how's Jeff?"
I spoke slowly, choosing my words carefully. "He's fine. He is... doing what he likes."
"That's good," said Kent. "So, if we're all ready, let's start recording."
