Sean heard Ric and couldn't imagine what he could possibly mean. But he was enraged that a little 13-year old punk would defy him.
He kicked off the side of the pool and swam as quickly as he could toward the shallow end. The boys watched, transfixed, as he lost more years and a disproportionate amount of size as his double shrink spurt continued. As his age declined from 14 to 11, the already-small Sean lost an amazing 18 inches of height, falling rapidly below 4 feet, then three and a half feet, and three feet. By the time he swam the growing ever-distance to the shallow end, Sean had diminished to just 31 inches tall and 12 pounds. The 2-foot-deep water in the shallow end was now shoulder high to the toddler-sized, 11-year-old Sean.
He paused for a moment as he reached the edge of the pool. Sean knew that something was terribly wrong, but he was still too much under the influence of the spell and too enraged by Ric's taunt, to figure out what had happened.
The boys looked on as the tiny boy struggled to hoist himself out of the pool and began to trot on the sidewalk toward the stairs.
"Now for part 3 of the spell," Ric said, and then spoke the following incantation:
"Skinny man, miniaturized
Grow back in age
But not in size."
And as soon as Ric spoke these words, Sean began to age quickly back through his pre-teens to early teens, mid-teens, late teens, and then twenties. By the time he reached the stairs to the second floor, Sean was back to being a 35-year old man, but still just 31 inches tall and skinny. At this point he finally realized that everything around him - the pool, the sidewalk, the stairs, and the house - was much, much larger than it should be.
"Wh..wh...what's...ha...happ...ened to ever..ry..thing?" Sean sputtered, now totally confused, feeling a growing terror arise in his gut.
