You stop dead and snatch your hand out of the 'nice' Runt's. "Wait just a minute! What is this about needing time? I hardly did anything - Runt changed me those times and I never hurt anyone!"

"Bullshit!" You explode, angry at this sudden bait and switch scheme. "Everything was all hearts and flowers and no problems before you got me to make up my mind. Then all of a sudden I'm a sinner who has to reflect on his evil deeds? Take me back to the real Runt! At least he has been straightforward and honest with me. You're the one who plays games!"
"YOU DARE!?!?" A voice thunders all around you, and the 'nice' Runt beside you cringes. The power makes the very air shakes, and you suddenly feel like an ant yelling at the boot about to squash you. But you might as well get squashed fighting.
"You guys seem so set on allowing me to make a choice - but you skew things so I made a choice on a false impression. What is it going to be? You tricking me into choosing you? If your messenger boy had been honest with me I would have stayed with Runt!"
The air crackles with power, and you fully expect to be incinerated. But then the 'good' Runt takes in a shuddering breath and says "OK." The next moment you are back in the woods, standing in front of your Runt. He looks startled. "What are you doing here? I thought..."
The 'good' Runt sighs. "I screwed up. Forgot to mention the atonement and redemption phase and your human here basically told Him to stuff it."
Runt does a double-take, staring first at you and then his doppelganger. Then he starts to laugh. It is a giggle at first, but then he doubles over, nearly falling to the ground as he laughs so hard tears stream from his eyes. The 'good' Runt looks disgusted. "I'm glad you find it amusing. I have to go back there and explain."
Your Runt finally gets himself under control. "Good luck with that. The big G hasn't had a mortal do anything but fall over in abject terror or total submission in a century! Messes with his perspective. And makes things easier for me." He looks at you. "So I take it you like the more adventurous path?" He offers his hand.
