Emily was about to go back to her car when she saw Serenity's demeanor shifting. The self-assured jerk she extorted informations from earlier changed into a scared thing, trying to make itself smaller than a mouse. That ‘new’ serenity was muttering "What have I done! What have I done! What have I done! What have I done! What have I done! What have I done! …"
Emily kneeled in front of the scared Serenity, looking her in the eyes, and asked. "You have multiple personality, haven't you?"
The shy Serenity only nodded.
"You're the one my friend Melissa met the other day, aren't you?"
Serenity nodded. "Until we kissed, then that monster Laurna woke up, took control of my body and cursed poor Melissa."
"Would you like to come with me and try to make things right by Melissa?" Asked Emily.
Again, Serenity nodded. "But— But wha-what if Lau-Laurna come ba-back?"
"Let me worry about that, okay?"
She was answered by another nod, and then she guided the former mermaid toward her car. THIS Serenity was clearly NOT used to have legs!
Once in front of her car, Emily took a bound rilsan® and cuffed Serenity with it, before giving her her jacket and closing it, to hide the binding. Then, after opening the passenger door and helping the former mermaid inside, she used another rilsan® to bind her ankles.
When Emily was about to start the engine, her phone ringed, a panicked Stefanie on the other end. It took her some time to calm down her sister and explain to her she was about to bring back Serenity.
On their way home, Serenity explained how she lived peacefully for years, until Melissa's kiss awoke Laurna. Then, the former mermaid explained how the witch memories flew through her, revealing she was only a curse supposed to maintain Laurna jailed in her own body, and how she felt said witch alter part of her to exchange their mermaid tail for Melissa's human legs.
Emily found all this very disturbing.
