Jared squirmed in Kurt's arms, but his rival's whispered threat had dampened the transformed teenager's resistance.
Kurt was just a mean enough lowlife to make good on his threat to neuter him.
Sam stood back as Kurt deposited the shaggy dog into the animal crate and then slammed the door of the hatchback.
Kevin made one more attempt. "This isn't fair! That's my…" He almost said brother, but then thought better of it. "He's my dog."
"His tags say different," Kurt said with his trademark smugness.
Sam, who was in the same class as Kevin at school, just shrugged. It wasn't like there was anything he could do to make Kurt change his mind.
Poor Jared stared through the bars of the cage as the Tanners settled into the car. Kurt spun gravel with the car's tires as he sped from the parking lot.
"Why'd you lie?" Sam ventured. "You know we don't have a dog."
Kurt laughed. "We do now, and a very special one at that." But he refrained from spilling out his entire scheme. No need to let anyone, even Sam, know how he had been stalking Jared for weeks. When the teenager had transformed into a dog, the entire metamorphosis had been viewed by Kurt thanks to his hacking of Jared's computer.
"I've got a kennel all prepared for him in the backyard," Kurt said.
From the back of the car came a canine whimper as Jared didn't like any of what he was hearing.
