Thinking about what to do, Jennifer realized the seriousness of what she was facing. If touching the fish didn't transform her, then she's not going to be a dolphin mermaid for a month, she was likely going to be one forever.
A cold anxiety set on as she realized she had very little options. If she chose to stay at this beach, she'd be stuck in the shallow water and someone would eventually figure out what happened. She had no other option but to as her friends for help.
She saw Emma lying on a towel with her backside up, likely tanning, and Marissa was nowhere in sight. She realized she was going have to crawl up the sand until she reached her.
As she desperately crawled up the shore, the reality of the situation set in. She couldn't walk on land anymore, it crawling along was a slow and painful experience. She wondered what she would tell her family, what would they do? How was she going to live after this. Tears started streaming down her face as she pulled herself forward on the sand. Her human life was over all because of a phone call.
Exhausted, Jennifer had finally reached her destination, which must have only been a hundred feet but felt like a quarter mile. "Emma", she said. Emma turned around and looked over Jennifer. "Jenn? Why are you laying down like tha-" She cut herself off when she saw the fin that replaced Jennifer's legs. "What happened?" She asked in a panic.
Jennifer explained everything about the curse and how she was likely going to be stuck like this. Emma was dumbfounded at her friend, who was now a choked up half-fish lying on the beach.
"Emma:, Jennifer said, "I need your help. I can't walk, so I need you to pick me up and put me in the car, we have to get out of here before someone sees".
"Right" Emma agreed, "But where do we go?".
"How about..."
