Transform or Dare?

Double Trouble

added by Dandriel 19 years ago O

Gillian led the frantic Jen up the stairs, even as Jen protested. "We shouldn't go upstairs, it's not safe. There's no way out!" Jen said, hoping to talk sense into the woman. But Gillian had been programmed for the better part of the past few years not to question anything her husband told her to do, and so her advice fell on deaf ears.

They could still hear the pounding, though it had diminished in frequency. "That's a solid oak door, whatever's after you isn't going to break through that, sweetie," Gillian said, trying to be reassuring. She handed Jen a pink terrycloth robe to cover herself with. "What happened?" Gillian asked, trying to make sense of the turmoil her life had been cast into.

Jen just shook her head,"It's a really long story, and I don't think you'd believe me anyway." Feeling a bit of remorse, Jen added, "I'm sorry you got dragged into this whole thing. We just have to survive until sunrise."

"What're you talking about?" Gillian asked, "Are you kids involved with satanism?"

"No ma'am," replied Jen, jumping as another "THUD!" vibrated through the house.

"Because if you are, this is what you deserve. We don't hold with that sort of thing," Gillian was looking at her quite angrily, and Jen didn't like the scolding tone in her voice. An unexpected anger welled up inside of Jen.

"Let's just go downstairs," Jen said, biting her tongue.

"I still think you owe us an explanation, bringing this into our lives and home," Gillian said, blocking the doorway from the bedroom back into the hallway.

"Fine, you want an explanation? Transform or dare!" Jen snapped at her.

"What?" Gillian asked,"What's this nonsense?"

"Pick one," Jen told her cryptically, "or you get both."

"I don't need your nonsense, girl," Gillian said, leaving the doorway, heading back towards the stairs.

"Fine, then here's what you get: Transform into a werewolf whenever you see another werewolf, changing back only when there's no more werewolves around you. And I dare you to protect me at all costs, putting my safety ahead of even your own," Jen smiled at her own creativity. The effect of the dare was immediately noticeable. Gillian turned on her heels and walked straight back to Jen.
"I'll keep you safe, don't worry, sweetie," Gillian said. For a brief moment a flicker of confusion passed across her face, but was gone as quickly as it had appeared.

A crash suddenly came from downstairs. Apparently the Sam-wolf had realized it could simply smash through one of the living room windows. "Holy Fucking JESUS!" screamed Frank.

The two women rushed downstairs; Gillian out of concern for her husband, and Jen in an effort to find an escape route. They found Frank laying on the floor, suffering from a bite wound to his shoulder, but no evidence of the Sam-wolf. Jen grew scared, looking around the room for where it was hiding, then was relieved to hear its howl outside. But why had it run, she wondered.

"Motherfucker bit me!" Frank said, angry. "What the fuck was that?"

"That was a werewolf. I don't know why he ran off, did you hurt him?" Jen asked, still trying to figure out why the Sam-wolf had retreated.

Frank struggled to his feet, wincing in pain as he tried to move the arm where he'd sustained the shoulder wound. "No..I didn't hurt that fucking dog. What the fuck sort of dog do you fucking kids have over there?" Frank began to wander towards the window. "Hrrmm...must not have gotten me as deep as I thought,"Frank said, pulling his shirt back, examining the wound, which had already begun to heal.

"I don't think you should go near the window," Jen said, realizing what would happen if he pulled the curtain back. Now she knew exactly why the Sam-wolf had run outside. It was to seal off her escape route. She only could hope that the dare she'd performed on Gillian would be enough to at least buy herself some time.

"Shut the fuck UP!" Frank snapped at her,"This is all your fucking fault anyway. Don't fucking tell me what to do in my own home!" Defiantly, he pulled away the curtain, peering out the window, looking for the beast that had invaded his life. Though he couldn't see the werewolf anywhere, he got a great view of the moon.
