The four friends saw the 'ruins' were completely sealed off, with no sunlight visible. There were torches everywhere, but they gave off the bare minimum of heat. They also went off in four directions. Instead of doing the foolish thing and splitting up four ways to try and find the exit faster, they four randomly chose one of the directions and went.
The very next room they came to was brightly lit, carpeted, and decorated with victorian style furniture nicknacks. There were nude figurines and paintings of various creatures in the room.
There was also a girl with pink hair and pink eyes in the room with a pink maid's dress. She also had cat ears and tail cat eyes and fangs paw like hands and feet that didn't seem to hinder her any.
She smiled as they entered and curtsied.
"WELCOME! WELCOME BRAVE HEROES! I am Mink! I welcome you to the transformation dungeon! As I have been commanded by Master, I wish you luck in defeating him and claiming that is his for yourselves... well, ONE of you, there can be one winner."
Caroline nearly fainted. Martha almost had a heart attack. Stewart took a step back.
It was real. Maybe this was some virtual reality experiment maybe? Or aliens?
"We...We thought this was a joke! Can you point us to the exit?" Jacob explained.
Mink laughed. "There IS NO way out, except by defeating the Master. At which point, I shall serve you unconditionally, as the master has ordered I shall. I will leave the dungeon with you if you so desire. Along with the many other guardians, and the treasures Master has created."
"The dungeon rearranges itself for every group of heroes who pass through it. Insure Master has a unique entertainment experiment for every group that tried to reach him at the bottom floor. Not many have managed to make it to the bottom floor, which at least for you mean they'll be fewer guardians as you go lower, but they'll be more powerful as they go.
"As per the rules, the equipment, clothing, weapons, items, and everything else left behind by previous heroes is yours to take and use to survive. This also means those with better equipment made it further so you'll find those deeper you go. I was a big game hunter... sorry, one of the previous groups took my gun and the sells for it. That was maybe, one hundred or two hundred years ago... yes, eternal life is one of the gifts of serving Master, even for those of us who stay flesh rather than become marble or glass or the like. Care to rest and have some tea before you continue your adventure? You have a long way to go." She offered them a victorian style tea set complete with crumpets and tea.
