Kara grimaced at the new nickname. “Well... Since you asked... You remember the incident at the mall?”
“The explosion?” Julia added.
“No... Well sort of...” Kara began. “The thing that happened last Thursday wasn’t an explosion. There was a bit of damage though. I was there with Ben, we saw everything.”
“There was a pod looking thing. It fell from the sky and broke through the ceiling. After a while, one of the rent-a-cop’s poked at it. It hissed and lit up, almost like it was alive.”
“You really expect me to believe that?” Julia scoffed.
“I’ve got two pussies and your nipples turned into dicks.” Kara insisted. “At least keep an open mind here...”
“Fine...” She shrugged. “Go on with your alien theory.”
Kara rolled her eyes and continued. “Again... Ben was there too. Call and ask him what happened if you don’t believe me.”
“As we were heading out, we saw several military trucks pulling into the lot. I didn’t find out until later that they were quarantining people who were still at the site. I guess we were lucky to get out when we did.”
“Lucky?” Julia said. “If that’s all true, then you’re one of the people who spread it.”
Before Kara could respond, they heard the crazy church lady freaking out about something. Both girls looked back at the television just in time to watch a boob swell up in the middle of her chest. The woman ran out of the frame, screaming until the feed was cut to something else.
“God didn’t do her any favors...” Julia laughed.
Kara laughed as well, taking a moment to appreciate the irony of it...
When their laughter died down, she said, “So... I don’t know if the mall pod thing had anything to do with this... But I think that’s where it started... At least, that’s my theory.”
“Fair enough...” Julia replied. “As weird as it is, I think aliens sound more reasonable than what that nut job was saying...”
Kara was about to add something but Julia’s phone cut them off...
