David sulked in silence the rest of the evening. On the other hand, Steve was more relaxed than he had been. Steve even spent time talking with Dennis and learning more about his future families traditions.
That night Steve stripped naked and wanted to snuggle with David like they had before.
"No, not with Dennis in the room."
"Oh you Aimaireekans. Adam and Eve were naked. If you don't secsuelize nudity, then nudity won't be secsuel. Snuggle all you like. As long as you have no secs, ees no sin."
"You just want to watch, you pervert."
"Daveed, you have small mind. You are worrier too much about petty theengs."
But David was stubborn and Steve gave up. He put some clothes back on and crawled back into bed.
The next morning, David stormed around demanding that they find the reverse switch and let him go. Thomas came in to explain things.
"The problem is, the reverse is more of a setting than it is a switch. There is only one switch on the dollhouse but there are a dozen pieces of the dollhouse that change what that one switch does. For example, if this shudder is open, it shrinks everyone in the room but if it is closed, it only shrinks the person who activated the switch. Or this weathervane acts like a locking mechanism. Turn it all the way counterclockwise and the dollhouse will not accidentally shrink idiots who were told to not play with the dollhouse."
Thomas looked at Steve and Steve backed into the house blushing. David asked, "So there isn't a switch?"
"There is a piece missing that would allow the house to reverse your shrinking. We're just not sure what that piece looks like. The dollhouse fell and several pieces fell off but we're not sure which piece was the reverse switch."
"What you're saying is that no one knows how to operate the dollhouse."
"The full instructions were burned in a fire centuries ago but one of our ancestors wrote a new, partial set of instructions from memory. We know enough that we've been safely using the dollhouse without any problems until the house fell a few years ago. I can take you to where the house fell and you can search for the reverse switch yourself if you'd like."
David said, "I insist. Maybe being tiny will make it easier for me to find the reverse piece than it is for you. Where did the house fall?"
