{Author's note: I waited to see what direction this tale would take before contributing, but am glad to see the Moon Lake Saga growing.—tmw2015.}
Rick Plunkett walked out of Kathy Tucker's lab with a slight smile on his face.
"Well?" asked Frank Tucker, who had waited in the Moon Lake hospital hallway to give the cryptozoologist time alone with his wife to discuss things privately.
"Your wife wants to run more tests to be sure, but it turns out there's a slight possibility that I might be the rare exception to the rule," said Rick happily.
"Huh?"
"She discovered that despite being born male, I also possess an extra X chromosome. That might allow me to switch genders when I become a were beast."
"So that means that Rick the human could really become Rikki the were when you take the plunge?" asked Tucker.
"If so, I'm looking forward to it," admitted Rick.
"Well, I'm glad one of us has some good news."
"What do you mean?" asked Rick.
"While you were talking to my wife, I called Mrs. Twist, the Town Chancellor, to explain things and apologize to her for starting this whole mess to begin with," said Frank.
"You didn't know it was a were-gorilla," replied Rick, "and no one has ever been able to officially confirm the existence of Sasquatch anyway."
"Well, that's where things start getting a little tricky," revealed Frank.
"Huh?"
"After I apologized to Mrs. Twist, she double checked the town records. Turns out there has never officially been a were-gorilla in the whole history of Moon Lake, and the town records go back to the early 1900s! Apparently she, like the rest of us, just took its existence for granted. Especially since I have a picture of it."
"Then who or what did you photograph, let alone we're chasing now?" asked Rick.
"Dang if I know," admitted Frank. "It could be a recent arrival who never bothered to register with town officials, or—"
"You mean it might be a REAL Sasquatch?"
"There's only one sure way to find out," replied Frank, as he and his new friend turned to leave the hospital.
