Mary glanced at her stubby hands with the dark pads. While useful for running, they presented a clear challenge for anything else.
"I need something with a grip...but not human..." Mary pondered, debating between some regular animals and mythological creatures. Finally, she decided to stick with the more familiar, hoping that it would prevent unintended side effects.
After much effort, she managed to pull out a vial and uncork it. Gathering her resolve, Mary downed half the vial, then carefully returned it to its place while she waited for it to take effect. She glanced at the picture on the side and prayed the vial would work as she hoped.
As she had downed a generous amount of the liquid, this time Mary didn't have to wait long for the effects. She slowly felt her joints shift slightly, as certain bones altered themselves and her muzzle began to shrink. While her front paws began to stretch and return to something approximating their prior proportions, Mary shivered at the odd sensation of her rear paws becoming decidedly more hand-like as well. Lifting her leg, she giggled as she managed to make a fist with her foot, which still retained a slight rough pad, enough to keep walking with bare feet from becoming uncomfortable. She quickly lowered her leg at the sudden sensation of a tugging in her backside. Looking over her shoulder, she gasped as the stubby Doberman tail gave way to a long, lean, prehensile appendage. She experimentally curled and extended her new tail, marvelling at the experience.
While the changes had made movement on all fours slightly more awkward, Mary sighed in relief at the fact that she could now manipulate the vials with ease thanks to her new hands. Although she could now probably scale a tree with ease, Mary was aware that monkeys were rather fragile when compared to most wild predators, and she knew she had to choose another vial to partake of. She still had fur, but it had shortened and was no longer as protective. Her ears, while still pointed, had shortened a bit, and her nose had lost some of its acuity. She still had some extra bulk thanks to having taken the muscle and size vials earlier, but Mary couldn't help but still feel nervous. Perhaps she also felt a bit curious; having gone this far, why not see what other advantages she could accrue to make her time in the woods more enjoyable?
As she rifled through the vials, Mary noticed she was having a harder and harder time making out the pictures in the fading light.
"Well, that solves that," Mary nodded. "The first thing I'm going to need is night vision."
Mary debated her options. She knew many different animals had relatively good night vision, but she had to consider how the vials would interact with what she had already taken: Dog, Size, Muscle, and now Monkey.
