After the door opened, for a long time Mary and Brittany just stared at each in stunned silence. Brittany was almost frightened to death. The creature before her was monstrous, with thick scaly skin, sharp claws, and impressive muscle and height. She was barely taller than its knee. Her natural instinct was to flee and hide, but she was too scared to move. She was just about to risk it, when the creature suddenly grabbed its massive belly and began to laugh loudly.
"So I guess I'm not the only one who changed? The mighty Brittany isn't so mighty anymore" said the creature between laughs.
"Mary, is that you?" said Brittany, relaxing just a little.
"Well, duh, " said Mary with a bitter sarcasm that shocked Brittany. "Who the hell did you think I was?"
" But, but .... how? Why?, " blubbered Brittany with confusion.
Mary rolled her eyes. "It was because of the store, you idiot. The clothes from the store changed us. You became a Chinchilla, because of the Chinchilla coat, and I became the wonderful specimen you see before you because of the Alligator boots. What did you think happened? You just suddenly started sprouting hair for no reason!"
The store, of course, thought Brittany. All of this began with that stupid coat. She hadn't realized she was a Chinchilla before now. She didn't think she had ever seen a live one, just their fur on coats. It all made sense now. She had to get back to the store, and force the manager to fix this. Brittany started to go through the door past Mary into the garage. Suddenly, she felt a strong hand grip her shoulders.
"Hang on, where do you think you're going?" said Mary sharply.
"Back to the store, " said Brittany nervously. "We have to get that weird guy to reverse what he did to us."
Mary smiled and nodded. "Of course, of course, " she said, with a wide grin. "Bur first, we need to take care of some things." She effortlessly pushed Brittany back into the house. Mary had to duck and squeeze through the door to follow Brittany. She knew she was big, but she hadn't really realized just how big until she finished working her way through the door.
"Okay, okay. Whatever, " said Brittany with some resignation. "Do whatever you need. But hurry. We need to get back to the store as soon as possible."
"We will, we will. Just relax. Bur first things first....aren't you forgetting something? " asked Mary with a smile.
Brittany thought for short while, then shrugged. "I give up. I don't know. Please just tell me, so we can get out of here, " she said impatiently.
Mary smiled wickedly and pointed to her massive feet. "My boots. They're dirty. I don't want to ruin your nice house. They need to be cleaned."
"You can't be serious, " said Brittany.
Mary rose up to her full height on the balls of her feet, with her head almost brushing the ceiling, and placed her hands across her chest in a threatening posture. "Oh, I 'm deadly serious. And I want YOU to clean them. It is your house after all."
Brittany looked Mary straight in the face, and saw that she was not kidding. She finally understood that she was no longer the one in charge. Mary had the power now, and she was going to use it to punish her for her many past sins. She sighed, and picked up a wet rag.
"Oh no, you can't use that. This is fine alligator leather. Don't you know what water will do to leather?" said Mary.
"Well then, how am I supposed to clean them, then? " said Brittany with exasperation.
Mary smiled, and then bent down until her face was just inches from Brittany's own, and said in a deadpan tone, "With your tongue."
Brittany gulped. She had never been more frightened in her life. With a sigh, she bent down and began to try to lick the soles of Mary' s feet. The stiletto heel was in her way, and Mary saw she was having difficulty getting around it. "Here, let me help you with that, " she said. She reached down, and with a sickening crunch she snapped the heels off her feet. All that remained was a jagged claw. The process was no more painful to Mary than trimming a toenail, and she was not surprised to find that even without the heel she felt more comfortable in a digitigrade stance. "Now you can begin."
