Derek looked as though he was having another thought. Jake, adjusting his new glasses, tried to think of whether there was anything he could say to stop his former boyfriend, now father, from asking anything new of the shopkeeper. "Derek... ," he started, but stopped immediately when he heard how his new voice sounded. It has a nasal twinge to it and was an octave higher than before. He felt with his tongue around his mouth. It seemed he had braces now, too.
Derek smirked at him and turned to the shopkeeper. "I was thinking... as son might be too much trouble. This one seems fairly docile, now, but maybe we could go for something a little more... feminine."
