"Anything! I'll do anything! " said Kyle with excitement. "Just hurry, so I can get back to normal and go to school."
"Well, " said Beryl. "That might be a problem. I don't think YOU are going to make it to school today. Because I need you to take my college entrance exams for me ....... as me."
"What? " said Kyle. "You've got the big brain now. Do it yourself!"
Beryl sighed. "Yeah, I have intelligence, but I don't have knowledge. I kind of goofed off throughout high school, and skipped most of my classes, so I was never really exposed to some critical information. Sure, I can learn things really fast now, but I can't remember facts that I've never seen or heard because I was absent. And I know you can. You've already taken the test, and your scores were pretty good."
"But, Beryl, you don't understand. Part of the curse was that a person would disappear from existence if I imitated them completely, " said Kyle with some desperation.
Beryl sighed. "Only while you are imitating the person. When you change into someone else, they'll return. " Kyle was shocked.
"Oh, I know all about the terms and limitations of your curse. Your transformation gave me full knowledge of it; it had to if I was going to devise a solution. And I also know that you'll get all of my memories and traits when you transform into me, including my intelligence. Trust me, brother, you'll like it. And with your knowledge and my intelligence, I know you can ace this test for me."
Kyle hesitated. Everything she had said made sense, and he did feel like he owed her something if she was going to cure him.
"Are you sure about this? " asked Kyle.
"Well, I'm not really looking forward to blinking out of existence. It does seem a little scary. But now that I can see clearly, I realize all the wonderful things I could do if I could get into college, and gain exposure to all of that knowledge. I really, really want to go. But I'm afraid that unless you help me, I'll never get that chance because of my past indiscretions."
Kyle was touched. He had never realized his sister felt this way before. She was the perpetual troublemaker, the wild child, the party girl. He had no idea she had any ambitions other than having a good time. He felt a little guilty that he hadn't really helped her that much before. He had never offered to help her study, or even gave her a tip about preparing for the exam. Well, he thought, I can help her now.
"Okay, " he said. "Let's do this."
